Not all barns, garages, and agricultural buildings in Montana are the same. Each one serves a slightly different purpose and is used by different individuals. If you are building a new barn or garage hobby shop in Montana, make sure you think carefully about how your building will be used and who or what will be inside. Once you know exactly what the building will be used for, you will need to choose from the following styles of doors for your building.

Overhead Bay Doors

If you plan on using your building primarily as a workshop or storage, overhead bay doors are a great choice. They are easy to operate, lightweight, and make moving vehicles in and out a breeze; plus, they are not very expensive. You may also choose to install an automatic door opener.

Sliding Doors

Animals, especially horses, are often startled by the sound of an overhead door being thrown open or the sound of an electric door opener. With that in mind, many custom horse barn builders in Montana choose to install large sliding doors instead of overhead doors.

Dutch Doors

Dutch doors are most commonly found on the outside of horse barn stalls. Dutch doors are great because they allow for the bottom half of the door to remain closed and prevent the horse from exiting its stall, but the top half to be opened for ventilation.

Personnel Door

If you want to be able to enter your new barn or post frame garage in Montana without opening the big door every time, make sure to install a simple personnel door. Personnel doors are available in a variety of styles: economical, insulated, security, decorative, and more. Installing a personnel door can also significantly help reduce wear and tear on your larger, more expensive doors.

No Door

Is your barn located far from major roads? Is your building designed to house livestock? Do you even need a door? If you don’t need a door, don’t waste your money!
